What it means

The role goes by several titles, coordinator, specialist or counselor, and it is often a family's first human contact with a center. A typical call covers what is happening, the substance and history, safety and medical risk, insurance, and practical details such as travel and timing.

When a caller is not a fit, a good admissions team points them to an appropriate provider rather than admitting everyone who calls, and that referral is never paid for.

Admissions is measured on speed and follow-through: how fast calls and forms are answered, how many become assessments, and how many become admissions.

Why it matters for your website

The website's job is to get a family to admissions. Put a named person on the admissions page, with a photo and a sentence about how long they have done the work. In our 25 September 2026 read of 44 admissions pages, the ones that described who answers did it by job title, and none named the person.

Make every route land with that person: tap-to-call on every page, forms that reach admissions in seconds rather than a shared inbox, and call tracking that shows which page produced the call.
